Maternity Management
KEPRO Maternity Management works closely with your member and her physician to ensure the best outcomes for both mother and child.
One Baby in Eight is Born Prematurely in the United States Each Year.
Premature babies have numerous medical issues, resulting in longer, more frequent hospitalizations, longer stays, and more office visits. Medical care costs average more than $100,000 each. Nationally, preterm births cost more than $26 billion annually. And the ordeal affects the health and well being of the entire family.
Reduce Costs for Your Organization and Worry for Your Members.
KEPRO Maternity Management decreases utilization due to pregnancy-related complications, premature births, and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) admissions. Our program identifies and engages expectant mothers early in their pregnancies to keep moms and babies healthy and reduce pregnancy-related care costs. We help expectant mothers stay healthy through education, behavior modification, empowerment, and service coordination from the first trimester, to delivery, to the post partum period. Registered nurse (RN) case managers conduct thorough assessments to give us a complete health profile of each enrolled member. We then stratify each member based on her risk – low, medium, or high.
KEPRO Ensures Compassionate Care for All Members, with Emphasis on those Most at Risk.
We interact more frequently with members at higher risk of complications, and those suffering from chronic conditions, such as asthma or high blood pressure. Our interventions remove barriers that prevent members from complying with medical treatment plans prescribed by their physicians. To help prevent complications, we re-assess risk levels with every interaction, and no less than once per trimester. If there’s a change in risk, we adjust the frequency and intensity of our interventions accordingly.

We’re Empowering Members with Innovative Wellness and Lifestyle Tools.
KEPRO’s interactive programs empower all members to better understand maternity and lifestyle risks. They can use a variety of online tools to monitor their conditions and get valuable health tips, plus strategies to better manage their pregnancies and any existing conditions.
Our case managers work to ensure that each expectant mother:
- Understands her actual and potential risks
- Knows how to prevent and manage those risks
- Recognizes signs and symptoms of complications
- Knows what to do if symptoms occur
We follow all members until released by their obstetricians after post partum check-ups, or up to three months after delivery, whichever is longer. Our post partum intervention includes assessing each member’s comfort level with basic childcare, plus screening for post partum depression. We address any signs of depression immediately and share them with the member’s obstetrician.
KEPRO Delivers Proven Results and Improved Health Outcomes.
KEPRO works closely with expectant mothers to ensure they can manage their own conditions with the help of their obstetricians, while reducing many barriers to compliance with medical treatment plans. We also strive to lower your claims costs by lessening or eliminating complications. Then, we verify effectiveness by reporting on financial, clinical, and member satisfaction outcomes.
We deliver a 3:1 return on investment for our maternity management clients by reducing:
- Use of emergency departments and acute inpatient admissions
- Number of premature births
- Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) admissions/lengths of stay
- Post-delivery complications
- Birth-related complications
- The impact of pregnancy-related or existing chronic conditions
We make sure your members can understand and manage pregnancy-related and existing chronic conditions, as well as their medical treatment plans. KEPRO also evaluates their ability to work with their physicians and co-ordinate their own care. Our unique, comprehensive approach emphasizes education and collaboration between patients and physicians that helps avert unnecessary issues, all while promoting the best outcome for the health of the mother, the child, and your organization.
