My name is Stephanie Cokinos Dominic, and I'm an EAP Clinical Consultant with Kepro. I have been with Kepro since 2015, but I have been in the EAP field for 20 years. Our main office is based in Maryland, where I work remotely.
I have a Master's Degree in Social Work and earned my LCSW-C, Clinical Licensure in Maryland. I am in the process of applying for my Virginia licensure. Since April 1, 2013, I have had my Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) Certification. A CEAP is the only recognized credential in the Employee Assistance Profession. It recognizes that a person has extensive experience and knowledge of the EAP field.
The purpose of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is to provide confidential, professional assistance to any employee and their family members, or anyone living with them, with behavioral or personal problems which may impair their job performance, attendance, conduct or wellbeing. The employee assistance program (EAP) counselors are professionals who provide support for employees who may be experiencing challenges related to job performance and personal wellness. EAP counselors are qualified and trained mental health professionals who often hold field-relevant certifications and licenses.
A busy day/night for me would be speaking with about 15-20 clients that call during the day and night shifts. I genuinely enjoy my job of helping people in their time of need. We have a lot of employees that reach out needing assistance with Counseling, Legal or Financial services, Adult Eldercare, Childcare services, Convenience Daily Living services, etc. The work can be both challenging and rewarding. Many of our callers are in the midst of a severe crisis dealing with depression and suicide, substance abuse, homelessness, job loss, divorce and domestic violence. I have wonderful supervisors and coworkers who all work together to assist our client's when they call and connect people to the appropriate resources they need to help them. We hope to improve lives through healthcare quality and clinical expertise.
For many years, I worked as an Adoption Social Worker in International and Domestic Adoptions, doing case management and home studies for families. I loved assisting children worldwide to find homes and helping parents build their families. I was also a co-hostess on the Greek Hellenic Hour with Penelope Apostolides. On this Greek American Sunday radio program, we delivered aspects of Greek Culture, including news and music for the 35,000 Greek Americans listening in the DMV area.
A fun fact about me is that I have raised several different dog breeds with my husband, John. Our favorite pets have been our Japanese Chin, Poodles, Maltese, and Bernese Mountain Dogs. Checkers, our Japanese Chin, was the longest-living dog we were lucky to have for over 17 years! We lost her a year ago and miss her very much. Outside of work, we love to travel and see the world together. John and I just returned from an exciting VBT Bike Tour to Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park. We explored and stayed in Ivins, Bryce Canyon City and Springdale, Utah. The climate and the sites were spectacular. We have also biked through France, Greece, Italy and Spain on our tandem and single bikes.
